My mother had this Salix discolor "pussy willow" in a pot but helped me plant it on the steep slope below my parent's house. It looks like just a stick right now but will eventually have pretty little flowers (called catkins) and make nice cuttings for flower arrangements.
Family: Salicaceae (sal-i-KAY-see-ee)
Genus: Salix (SAL-iks)
Species: discolor (DIS-kol-or)
